Jazýček šikovníček: speech-therapy prevention once a week
At the club, your child strengthens the tongue, lips and breathing with playful exercises. The club supports clear pronunciation and works as prevention. If your child needs therapy, we will recommend a visit to a speech therapist. If you are worried about your child’s pronunciation, read when it is a good idea to see a speech therapist.
Financial literacy
Playing shop, children get to know coins, compare prices and find out the difference between what they want and what they need. You can read more on our curriculum page.
EQ programme
Your child learns to name emotions, cope with anger and sadness and agree with others. We build their confidence, empathy and ability to work together.
Sports clubs in blocks
Sports clubs run in blocks, which means a series of lessons over a set period. You sign your child up only for the ones they are interested in. Joining is voluntary and costs extra.
- Swimming at all three kindergartens. Your child gets used to the water and learns to feel safe in it.
- Climbing wall at all three kindergartens. It strengthens the whole body and teaches your child to be brave.
- Ice skating at all three kindergartens. It develops balance and coordination, which are useful in other sports too.
- Skiing at all three kindergartens, in winter.
- Cycling in Kramáre and Vrakuňa.
- Football in Vrakuňa.
We will tell you the current blocks, dates and prices on a visit or on 0948 374 372.
Why we think movement matters so much is explained in our article Why children need more movement and less sitting.
Trips, theme days and a treasure hunt
As well as clubs, during the year we go on trips into nature and to see animals, for example to a farm. We hold theme days and an autumn treasure hunt. We write more about this in our article Learning through experience.
How to choose a club for your preschooler
A preschooler learns a lot during an ordinary kindergarten day, so there is no need to sign up for everything at once. These questions will help you choose:
- What does your child enjoy? If they are always climbing the furniture at home, the climbing wall is the obvious choice. If they love water, start with swimming.
- How much can they manage? One or two sports blocks alongside kindergarten are enough for most children. Watch whether your child is noticeably tired or irritable after a club.
- What would you like to support? Ice skating and cycling develop balance, swimming confidence in water, and climbing strength and courage.
- How do they get on in a group? Football in Vrakuňa is a team sport in which children also learn to work together and take turns.
If you are not sure, ask the teacher. She sees your child every day and knows what they enjoy.
How much movement a preschooler needs
The World Health Organization recommends that children aged 3 to 4 are active for at least 180 minutes a day. Part of this time should be more energetic movement. Outdoor time in the morning and afternoon, exercise in the Rozhýb labky programme and the sports blocks help your child reach this. We look at the recommendations in detail in our article Why children need more movement and less sitting.
