Kindergarten meals: what your child eats at Sovička and what it costs
At Sovička Kindergarten your child gets a morning snack, a hot lunch, an afternoon snack, fruit and drinks every day. The food is cooked by Zjedené Junior, a catering company that prepares meals for nurseries, kindergartens and schools. The meal fee is €5.50 a day, or €5 a day for half-day attendance (without the afternoon snack). If your child needs gluten-free or lactose-free food, it is prepared separately for them.

According to its own description, Zjedené Junior cooks from a menu that repeats roughly every 90 days. It sources its ingredients mainly from Slovak producers. So your child won’t be eating the same thing all the time.

You will find the current menu, with allergens, in the parent app. So in the evening you know what your child had for lunch and don’t have to cook the same thing.
Gluten-free and lactose-free food, and allergies
If your child has coeliac disease or is lactose intolerant, we make sure they get gluten-free or lactose-free food. Just tell us about the allergy or diet when you apply, and their food will be prepared from the very first day.
You don’t need a doctor’s note for the diet. Your word is enough, and we make sure your child only gets on their plate what won’t harm them.
When your child won’t eat at kindergarten
Especially in the first weeks, your child may eat less at kindergarten than at home. A new place, different plates and lots of children around can take away their appetite for a while. It helps when your child sees the food again and again and sits at the table with friends who eat happily. What you can do at home is in our article My child won’t eat at kindergarten.
Cancelling meals and paying
When your child is ill or stays at home, you mark them absent and cancel their meals in the parent app with one tap, without a phone call. You pay the meal fee together with the monthly fee by invoice, simply with a QR code.
You can cancel meals on the same morning, by 7:30 at the latest. If your child wakes up with a temperature, you still have time without any stress.

Drinks throughout the day
Drinks are part of the meal fee. Your child has something to drink available all day, at meals and between them. We provide the cups.
How to prepare your child for meals at kindergarten
- Let them eat on their own with a spoon and drink from a cup. It will give them confidence at kindergarten.
- Offer a variety of food at home, including soups and vegetables, so the kindergarten menu doesn’t surprise them.
- Keep mealtimes similar to kindergarten: a snack around 9:00, lunch around 12:00, an afternoon snack around 15:00.
- Don’t talk about food as a duty. Praise for tasting works better than pressure to clear the plate.
